Pride Abrasive Combination Water Stone 1K/8K (83110008000) – Double-Sided Sharpening Stone

This Pride Abrasive Combination Water Stone combines a 1000 grit (medium-fine) face with a 8000 grit (ultra-fine) face on one double-sided block, supplied in a wooden storage case. It is designed to take a blade from sharpening through to a refined finish without needing to change stones.

Use the 1000 grit side for the classic starting grit for routine knife sharpening, giving a keen working edge, then turn the stone over and move to the 8000 grit side for producing a highly polished, near mirror finish suited to fine kitchen knives and pocket blades. As with all Pride Abrasive water stones, soak the stone in water before use and keep the surface wet throughout sharpening for the best results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 1000/8000 grit combination used for?

The 1000 grit side is medium-fine and suited to the classic starting grit for routine knife sharpening, giving a keen working edge, while the 8000 grit side is ultra-fine and used for producing a highly polished, near mirror finish suited to fine kitchen knives and pocket blades.

How long should I soak the stone before sharpening?

Submerge the stone in clean water for 10-15 minutes, or until it stops releasing air bubbles, before each use.

Does the stone need to be flattened over time?

Yes, like all water stones it will dish gradually with use. A dedicated flattening stone will keep both faces true for consistent sharpening angles.
